BirchKeysは、主にモールス信号による通信に用いる電鍵を作っています（現在のところ販売予定はありません）このデジタルの時代に、ほとんど使い手のいなくなった電鍵に魅了され、特にクラシックなスタイルのものを現代的な製法で再現することを目指しています。練度の高い打ち手によって紡ぎ出される情緒深い電文は、遙か上空に浮かぶ電離層で反射を繰り返し遙か彼方まで飛んでいきます。木と金属で構成された美しい電鍵は、さながら上質の楽器の一つとも言えるでしょう。
BirchKeysには、主にデザインとシミュレーションを担う蓼科スタジオと、ファブリケーション中心の奈良スタジオがあり、日々新しいアイデアの検証を行っています。このサイトは、深い森に囲まれた蓼科の自然や文化の香り高い奈良の文物を紹介しながら、日々の活動を記録してます。
The Birchkeys mainly produces telegraph keys used for Morse code communication. (not for sale for the time being)Fascinated by these keys, which have almost disappeared in this digital age, The Birchkeys aims to reproduce them, especially the classic styles, using modern production methods. The emotional telegrams spun out by highly skilled tappers are repeatedly reflected in the ionosphere floating far above us and fly far away. The beautiful Morse keys made of wood and metal can be described as one of the finest musical instruments.
The Birchkeys has two studios: the Tateshina Studio, which is primarily responsible for design and simulation, and the Nara Studio, which focuses on fabrication, where new ideas are tested on a daily basis. This site documents our daily activities while introducing the nature of Tateshina, surrounded by deep forests, and the cultural relics of Nara, a city with a rich cultural flavor.
